Dec 21, 2012 - Visiting Atlantic City

When you and your family or group are planning to visit Atlantic City, think about renting a charter bus, coach bus, party bus, mini bus, passenger coaches or school bus from Bus Company New Jersey. A rental bus will get you and your group to Atlantic City safely, and in style.

Famous the world over as the inspiration for the place names in the game “Monopoly”, Atlantic City and its Boardwalk have long been a recreational destination for tourists and visitors from the Eastern seaboard of the United States. Located on Absecon Island, 2 hours drive south of New York City and an hour away from Philadelphia, Atlantic City got its start in 1853 when developers saw the potential in developing the real estate on its beaches.

The city’s famous Boardwalk was built in 1870. Initially a measure by hotel operators to keep beach sand out of their lobbies, it proved a hit with visitors, who would stroll along its length, taking in the views and sea breeze. Today, the Boardwalk extends for over 7 miles, and has many attractions along its length. There are several piers on the Boardwalk, many with their own attractions such as amusement parks. The visitor will also find shops, restaurants, and food and refreshment stands. Other attractions include the Boardwalk Hall, House of Blues and Ripley’s Believe It or Not Museum.

Atlantic City’s main attraction is its casinos, and you can visit them all easily with a rental bus from Bus Company New Jersey. Considered the “Gambling Capital of the East”, Atlantic City voted to allow legalized gambling in 1976, in order to stem a tide of urban decline as the tourism industry moved on to other locations with the advent of low priced jet travel. Today, Atlantic City has 11 major casino hotels, 7 of which are located right on the Boardwalk. The three largest are the Borgata, Harrah’s Atlantic City and Trump Taj Mahal. Most casinos have a specific theme decor in order to attract visitors and gamblers.

There is also lots of entertainment to be found in Atlantic City, befitting its status as a resort city. Dining establishments are to be found nearly everywhere, to suit every budget. You can choose from chain names, fine dining and gourmet cuisine, to greasy spoon diners. Bars and clubs are also plentiful, most of which are part of the casino hotel. You will also find big name entertainers giving shows at the various casino hotels, and title fights are held at the Trump Taj Mahal.
